You might have heard a lot about the Toyota RAV4 if you are looking for the perfect car with 3rd-row seating. Often, there is a little bit of confusion about if there can be a RAV4 with enough seating for large families and what are the other popular SUVs with third-row seating are on the market at the moment. The following is all the information you need to know about the seating of the RAV4 and to understand if it can fit your needs.

Which Toyota RAV4s Have 3rd Row Seating?

So what models of the Toyota Rav4 have 3rd row seats? Unfortunately, this is not an easy question to answer. A RAV4 year/model may not have the seats you require since various models from certain years have 3rd-row seating. It's because fewer consumers requested extra seating on previous releases.

The compact design of the RAV4 is one of its biggest selling points, but other SUVs in the same price range have larger interiors. Considering these models typically seat eight people, it is not the best vehicle if you need to transport more than five people.

Some people find third-row RAV4s highly desirable vehicles because of their structural benefits and comfortable seating. However, adults may have difficulty fitting in this tight space, and children's car seats won't have much elbow room after installation.

There are older models of the RAV4 that have third-row seats, and they are quite readily available. The vehicle is still a small SUV, so if you're looking for high capacity, it won't deliver. Due to the lack of popularity of this feature, it was discontinued.

In addition to these impressive features, these models also offer a V6 engine and highly rated safety features. Several advanced features are featured in the 2009 model, including airbags, stability control, and traction control. For this reason, the Institute for Highway Safety named the Rav4 its top safety pick that year.

RAV 4's with third-row seating are no longer available in newer models, as those extra seats are considered unnecessary. In 2012+ models, there is a maximum seating capacity of 5 people (including the driver), but even that may be a squeeze given the vehicle's small size. Toyota has focused on increasing the size of its full-sized SUV lineup to provide a bigger volume for vehicles of this size.

In addition to the more comfortable fabric upholstery, the newer models also come with a leather shift stick and steering wheel. The six-way power-adjustable drivers' seats provide plenty of comfort and support if you regularly drive long distances or prefer to take long road trips. The cabin has ten cupholders to provide a lot of storage.

Toyota's newest models are equipped with the Star Safety System, Bluetooth, and infotainment options. Despite not having third-row seating, these models are equipped with fantastic modern features.
