Step 1

Slide the hook end of the slim jim between the window trim and passenger side near the door handle right at the bottom of the window. Insert the slim jim carefully into the door.

Step 2

Now for the lock rod, feel around with slim jim. This rod connects the handle of the door with the locking mechanism. In most of the vehicles, you can find it near the handle of the door. Negotiate the slim jim around the handle of the door till you hook the rod. When you hook the rod, you can easily unlock the side door of the passenger.

Step 3

With the slim jim, pull up the lock rod. When you hear the click sound of the door lock, your car door is unlocked.

Step 4

Now open up the door and get on to the driver's seat. Now pull the trunk button, and your car trunk is open.

Step 5

If your trunk opening is malfunctioning, climb into the back seat and find the lever. Pull the lever to unlock the seats from their hinges and then access your car trunk.

Find the trunk safety release in your car trunk. It could be located near the front or back of the trunk. This lever is designed to open the trunk if you accidentally get locked in the car trunk. Now pull the lever and open your car trunk.
